Seige Monstracity is an anomaly in the music industry. He rides the fence, providing the contemporary soundtracks for successful commercial artists such as YG, Tyrese, Keisha Cole, and Marsha Ambrosius, as well as producing grimey backdrops for underground artists like Bizarre, Bad Lucc, and Namebrand. This is a collection of the latter. Seige's debut LP contains 12 incredible doses of heavy beats, chopped up breaks, and obliterated samples. A Detroit transplant in Los Angeles, both cities are omnipresent at all times on the LP. Swahililan is a west-coast interpretation of the classic Stakes Is High. Careless revives a classic David Axelrod moment. Dirt Bag sounds like a late night liquor store robbery. Doves takes a classic from one of our all time greats who we lost recently, and transforms it into a ride thru the hood on a beautiful day in Los Angeles. This is not to be missed. Another classic collection of beats from Street Corner Music.
Jake One's discography reads like a who's who list of some of the greatest AND most successful artists in the history of hip hop. That's what makes him truly unique. Blurring the lines between the underground and overground. Providing sonic backdrops for such incredible emcees as De La Soul, Scarface, Freeway, MF Doom, Evidence, Casual, Elzhi, Brother Ali, and Rakim among others, but polishing that same formula and providing records for the likes of Drake, Rick Ross, T.I., 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, J Cole, Wale, Dom Kennedy, and Royce 5'9", Jake One is one of the exceptions that has worked equally with both of these sides of the industry. Exceptionally. "Prayer Hands", a collection of instrumentals created from gospel sources, includes some of those recordings amongst others that all remind you that Jake One has pretty much become the go-to producer for any major artist that wants some real hip hop shit on their album. And understandably so. His discography is one of the most reputable in the game. On October 21st, Street Corner Music and Rappers I Know are proud to present Jake One's "Prayer Hands"
You're cool, the engine's hot, the girls gorgeous. A tankful of gas and an open road The rest is up to you!" Different Worlds Music Group/Fat Beats are thrilled to announce the release of the latest album from Skizz (DJ Skizz), Cruise Control, available everywhere on cassette, November 4th -- limited to 500 copies! Cruise Control is Skizz's 2nd official producer album (B.Q.E. 2013). Over the last couple years, Skizz has been laying down the groundwork for Your Old Droog, while producing and working as his tour DJ. He has also been producing for other notable artists, all the while creating his own label/imprint, Different Worlds Music Group. This will be the 2nd official release from Different Worlds. The label released Timeless Truth's critically acclaimed Cold Wave album this past February. Cruise Control is a sonic progression, says Skizz. This album takes you from where B.Q.E. left off- it's still that raw boom-bap, but this album is a bit more slick and melodious. On this album, Skizz recruited a mix of veteran OG MCs (O.C., Planet Asia, Roc Marciano, Evidence, etc) as well as up-and- comers (Your Old Droog, Conway, Hus Kingpin, Da Villins, etc) to provide a dope cohesive and original album that is set to be the official Hip-Hop soundtrack for the summer of Õ16É
Tuamie returns to Street Corner Music with Holy Ghost Spirituals, the third release in SCM's Gospel flip series. Following Jake One and Ras_G's collections, Tuamie chops and flips his sanctified selections into raw beats. A no brainer for a Tuamie fans, this will not be around long.
Dert is back. Kind of. Derty Dan's Cheap Thrills, his second release on SCM, and fourth record in as many years has arrived. As with prior self-released albums West Side Of The Moon and Eclipse, Dert sticks to one group for the source material that he then flips, chops and obliterates over the albums 16 tracks. This wonÕt be around long. It's also Dert's last album he will be making.
Big Shoes Cassette (2xCassette Vocals + Instrumentals)
BIG SHOES is all about fitting the shoes that came before you and filling the shoes that will come after you. Taking the best from those who led and teaching those who will follow in your footsteps how to lead. - House Shoes BIG SHOES deals in legacy. The legacies we inherit, carry on or betray, and the legacies we leave behind for others. House Shoes and Big Tone know about legacy. The Motor City titans came up in a time when Detroit Hip-Hop experienced a super-bloom of creativity and innovation. In their own ways, they took on a mantle for the city and it's music scene. They bled for it. They lost friends and pillars of their city. Then, they grew up and created families of their own. Still, they've pressed on and continued. Tone and Shoes have been friends and collaborators for a lifetime. BIG SHOES is a chronicle of their experiences, together and alone, carrying out the heavy and heralded legacy of being a Detroit musician. This reconciliation of the pain their journeys have faced includes a recognition of the growth brought about as a result. BIG SHOES is also a family reunion, with a litany of guests, witnesses and friends. This isn't a Hollywood tale of triumph, it's a bittersweet story of blessings and baggage. Our protagonists don't end the album in loud and garish opulence, they complete a cipher. Where they began dealing with the weight of the lineage they carry on, we leave the story with our two auteurs in control and at peace with the patrimony they've built--and continue to build. BIG SHOES is fully produced by House Shoes with Big Tone handling the mic, with family appearances from Denmark Vessey, Blu, Quelle Chris, Jimetta Rose, 87 and MoSel.
